KEMAL İÇDEN

Lara Sayılgan was born in 1977. She initially began her studies in Opera (Vocal/Music) at Mimar Sinan University; however, she later shifted to photography, reshaping her career path. She moved to London for her photography education and studied Media and Photography at the London College of Communication (formerly London College of Printing). In 2005, she founded her own studio, StudioPlus.
Her work highlights themes of nature, the human relationship with nature, and awareness of nature’s form and transformation. For instance, in a 2023 project, she photographed cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) pads, printed them on plexiglass, and created a physical surface using epoxy and gold leaf. In doing so, she transformed photography and nature from an “objective/representational” medium into an object that forms a tactile relationship with the viewer. This approach combines the belief that nature is “a work of art in itself” with an attitude that challenges traditional perceptions of photography. Sayılgan expresses this sensitivity by saying, “I believe nature itself is a work of art.”
She has been represented by Vision Art Platform since 2022. In the group exhibition ‘Remedy For The Soul’ in 2022, she participated with four nature-themed works (black-and-white photographs + video). In 2025, she took part in the international art fair Asia Now Paris with works such as ‘Park’, ‘Unborn Lotus’, and ‘Opuntia My Love’. These works include photographs taken in Vietnam and Bodrum, applications of gold leaf, and interactive designs.
