SOYHAN BALTACI

Soyhan Baltacı was born in 1989 in Istanbul. He graduated from Yeditepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Plastic Arts in 2015. He is currently pursuing his master's degree at Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Art & Design, and also works as a lecturer at FMV Işık University.
Soyhan Baltacı’s artistic practice encompassing painting, drawing, works on paper, charcoal, oil, and various found materials focuses on an ecological/environmental art approach centered on nature, the human–space relationship, the environment, ecology, and the contradictions between humans and nature.
He continues his production in his studio in Şile, where he is more intertwined with nature outside of Istanbul. The relationship between humans and nature, environmental destruction, and the ruptures created by this relationship are among the main themes of his work. For Soyhan Baltacı, art is a means of thinking about, reminding, and raising awareness of "the traces humans leave in nature,” and therefore his practice incorporates both visual aesthetics and ethical/ecological responsibility.
